Best of the hacker news readers
It is polished, fast and actively maintained.
This app is useless. On iOS8 with iPhone 5S it crashes on startup.
The API/scraping technique currently being used is broken and is returning all comments as deleted and lots of null values all throughout the app!
This client started crashing on startup after Christmas while pulling the feed data, but every other HN app Ive tried on iOS is having similar issues. Hope the dev fixes, as this is my favorite reader. Would love to have collapsible comments like Alien Blue.
It was great up until this version that crashes on launch. Hopefully there will be a fix soon!
starting crashing on launch shortly after lunch today. it is/was my favorite newsreader. please fix asap.
This app makes HackerNews bearable on mobile. Thanks for the great app!
This remains the best way to read Hacker News on an iPad for me. You can interact like normal with the site, including commenting, and voting (without worrying about accidentally hitting the tiny down arrow instead of the tiny up arrow). It also has a good automatic night mode that switches to white text on black when the ambient light is low, and you can change the font size and collapse threads. Apparently the API, or however this program accesses the site, frequently changes, but as before the author of this app fixed the problem within a couple days and did not charge for a new version.
Thank you for posting this update so quickly. This continues to be the best NH client out there.
MiniHack is easily worth the low cost. I use it daily and it just works. And, the author is actively maintaining and improving it.
Easily the best HN client for iOS. Clean, responsive, functional.
It backs to full functional again.
Tapping on stuff only works the first time then it doesnt work again until I close and reopen the app. Really annoying
This is a nearly-perfect client for HN, definitely one of the best available at the moment. The display is the most eye-pleasing of all HN apps I have tried. Would be great if it was updated to use the HN API instead of screen-scraping which seems to result in the app crashing every time HN makes any changes to their site. Only other knock here is that at least on my device (iPhone6) it seems to drain the battery. Not sure why that might be but when I look under battery usage its always there with like 10-15%
I cannot recommend this app that I once loved. The web viewer has been broken for what seems like months, so I have to open each link manually in Safari. Makes this app pointless.
The first HN app that feels like a polished product, not just a weekend project. It is such a pleasant surprise to find a great app whose developer is regularly improving the app.
Great compact reader, author highly responsive to bugs
